MŪSA - Archaelogical Museum
Founded with the aim to acquire, preserve and promote the historical memory, the cultural heritage and the social identity of this town
The collection features finds from the first native settlements dated from the Neolithic to the Middle Ages uncovered during excavations on sites located in town and on its outskirts.
The MŪSA also offers a unique and privileged view of locations which can no longer be physically used, but which are still today the subject-matter of academic studies and the topic of archaeological and anthropological research.
The traces of the past define the identity of the town and illustrate the role of Alghero over the centuries on Sardinia and among the Mediterranean area.
The layout shows the image of the Catalan facet of the city and of its dwellers along a pathway that unfolds through three different thematic sections organized according to chronological schemes, as to the Sea | the Lands of the Living | the Sacred Realm.
The exhibition space is set out on two different floors of the building through a faithful and evocative reconstruction of the environmental settings.
The museum leads visitors on a journey through prehistory to history viewed from distinct yet complementary perspectives.
Alghero Ticket includes admission to the museum. The guided tour costs €3 per person and is payable separately at the MŪSA ticket office.
